Empowering Education and Faith-based Community Support in Rutland since the 19th Century
The Charity of Henry Forster (Reg. No. 218930) is a long-standing charitable institution devoted to promoting education, spiritual development, and social wellbeing in Rutland. Our mission is to provide direct support to young learners, clergy, and local organizations that serve their communities with dedication and compassion.
Our roots trace back to the early 19th century, inspired by Henry Forster’s vision of a spiritually and intellectually enriched Rutland. We remain faithful to his legacy by funding educational foundations, supporting the clergy through supplemental stipends, and managing the Oakham Apprenticeship Fund to foster trade skills among youth.
We work closely with churches, schools, and community bodies in Oakham, Braunston, and the surrounding parishes to ensure our grants reach those most in need. Our trustees serve voluntarily, guided by a shared commitment to transparency, compassion, and service.
All our programs are evaluated annually for impact and compliance with our core values. We welcome proposals and letters of inquiry from educational and faith-based institutions operating within Rutland.
Our leadership comprises dedicated trustees who guide our charitable efforts with professionalism and deep local knowledge:
Our trustees work without salary. We uphold strict governance protocols, ensuring every donation and grant is used transparently to fulfill our charitable purpose.
We’d love to hear from you—whether you're a student, family, school, church, or supporter of our mission.
